    Yolande,
    the company said on 25th of June the shaft was first going down to 50 metres.
    In the quarterly that was released on 30th July, the shaft was down to the 42 metre mark.
    The shaft had to go out of competent ground (basalt0, into the sands and sloppy stuff at this level. To get through this tricky stuff they are using some form of special technique-as described in their release.
    The rate of development is not unduly slow at this stage-particularly given the ground conditions..
    Would expect them to be at the 50 level next week or so before they do the cross cut.
    Another old industry guide-shaft sinking goes at around two metres a day in 'normal' conditions. Only problem is nothing is ever normal!LOL.
