I didn't know you lived in Sri Lanka, elm. I'm pretty sure they have real fiat money there also. The fact remains, in Australia and most other developed economies, the only thing you can buy with gold bars, nuggets and dust is fiat money. The same applies also to gold coins, in practice, unless you want to take a big haircut on your investment.
