p-1 was a failure

I am not entirely sure calling P-1 a failure is anywhere near the mark however! It was a large enough success to deem another well be drilled to gain a better understanding of the enormity of the field. I think you may find that an explorer finding large quantities of their targeted resource would usually qualify as successful. They may not have collected all of the data they were hoping for, but that does not detract from the SUCCESS of P-1.

Before they prove commercial viability they need to prove the resource, kind of like crawling before you walk!
