What company introduces a new product that decimates their business model?

A company that is desperate to keep double digit growth regardless of underlying profit. Nothing I've seen convinces me that APT has any long term goals except making the founders stinking rich.

Some analysts are suggesting it could be circa 7%, my own research indicates that it will almost certainly be above 4%.

Nobody except overpriced hair salons can absorb a $7 merchant fee. Even 4% is 25-50% of net profit for many business. it is the entire margin for many companies.

I suspect the fee will be closer to zero. The fact that only the lowest risk APT customers are eligible is telling.

This is why the biggest ecommerce company on the planet pays affiliates.

The business plan of Amazon is harvesting user data and using it to compete with their own resellers.

A merchant does not grow to a certain size, whereby management decide that because most people have heard of us or a significant proportion of our target demographic has previously shopped with us, there is no longer any need for us to advertise, pay affiliates, integrate with BNPL providers, pay influencers and so on.

Umart are probably the largest computer parts seller in Australia. They have never advertised or paid affiliates or influencers. They don't accept BNPL or have finance providers. Until recently they didn't even accept CC without a surcharge. They compete entirely on price, range and reputation.
