nro in 1982 the muscles etc were found to be polluted with lead etc and again in 2013 they were still found to be polluted but to a much lower extent in other words the pollution although still bad is falling over time or with the pit open to the sea the lead values are still falling suggesting very strongly the water from the pit is not contributing to the lead problem
