No, but the business must notify you beforehand that a credit card surcharge will be applied to the transaction.
I wonder if Optus will also charge a handling fee for over the counter bill payments. If not it could be the impetus for a marketing campaign by them.
Also I have read that Telstra's new billing system was massively overbudgetand I guess they are trying to force customers to move towards electronic payment or suffer the consequences.
Talk about alienating your customers.
