Some previous discussion talked about cash costs for the industry. Comparing between companies is difficult but it was interesting to see SLR's cash costs for the quarter were up - they explained the increase due to additional preparations for ongoing activities ... sounds familiar. Anyway, I thought some might be interested. I do not own shares in SLR and only post this here as I recall someone suggested that around $750/oz was currently the industry average for gold in Oz.
'Unit Costs
Cash operating costs were A$563 per ounce. This was higher than the previous quarter due to lower
mined grade, stope drilling costs associated with September 2009 quarter’s production areas and
commencement costs for the Christmas Flat Project.
Total cash costs were A$760 per ounce. This was higher than the previous quarter due to the
excavation of an additional 25% waste development metres than the previous period.'
