it's more than that -------
if you were an Aussie in France - you would see it ---- so many Aussies I have met here -------- in 'outback' France - not in Paris - so many have said ---------- gees, I know now why so many have tried to take France and why it's been fought for so much - because it's just so rich
Oz has lots and lots and lots of nothing ---------- it can grow some grains on a lot of that nothing and it can dig up dirt and has, in the past made some money out of selling dirt when dirt was worth selling
but, one drive slowly through France in the boondocks shows richness - everywhere
where there are cattle - they are fat - where there are crops - they are green and full - of either seeds or fruit or whatever -
and - it's everywhere - absolutely everywhere
I'm sorry - I really meant to post the Froggie Covid recovery stimulus package ------------ if one compares it to Oz - one sees the incredible stark difference between the two nations
it's the difference between an old developed rich nation and a new nation with almost no developed industries and dependant on developing nation style industries
it's chalk and cheese
does it matter???????
well - IMO -in the past - maybe, maybe not --------- but, for the future --
I suggest that it matters a LOT - now - it might not - but, because we are moving into such a massive change -------- then, IMO - the social and economic changes are going to be so profound - that what one would 'think' will be needed is good solid grounding in our classical education - subjects that have time and time and time again given us grand rewards through any time in history -
in Oz - we've gone right away from that ----------------- look at what this guy said
"But he has offered this advice: "Don't specialise too early, read widely, think laterally, and look beyond your field," recalling that his best lines of scientific questioning came from flashes of creativity studying philosophy."
that was "
About to turn 80, geophysicist Kurt Lambeck may have formally retired "in the sense of not being paid anymore", but that hasn't stood in the way of the scientist's work.
He started his career as a surveyor, mapping the natural world before the first GPS,"
now - our governments have deliberately moved us away from that classical type of education - preferring to educate in things like computers, digging dirt or pulling teeth
things like philosophy, history, art, sociology - these are the very things that one needs a grounding in --------- to head into a very different future
without that ----------- one is basically cactus
what's it got to do with money and economies???????
everything
from these basic studies - we form ideas and concepts with solid grounding in things like - health, social security, - pretty much everything to do with human survival and growth
in Oz - we are NOT developing - not a bit. We have basically a race to see who can take us back to 1950 quicker --
we need to be thinking about 2050 - not 1950
and, in 2050 - the social changes are going to be that great - that the entire way of life will be almost unrecognisable - if not by then - then certainly by the end of the century
we cannot cobble this stuff together at last minute - these things take decades to bring fruit - even with rapid change
Oz IMO - is waiting at the dock - the ship has sailed off - but, we are at a table drinking grog and living it up thinking that we have a ship to catch - just don't realise that it's already sailed
in Europe - people know change is coming - they, like everyone - don't know fully where it's going to take us - but, they are better prepared
Oz is treating life like this year is the same as last - or this decade is the same as last decade (covid aside)
it's like we think - nothing is going to change much ---
got news ------------- really really bad news
