Terrible isn't it bunta?
But not to worry. If you read the latest AEMO report on South Australia from November 2020:
https://aemo.com.au/-/media/files/electricity/nem/planning_and_forecasting/sa_advisory/2020/2020-south-australian-electricity-report.pdf?la=en
Some salient observations:
Coal is gone, wind and solar are now over 50% of supply and gas is rapidly decreasing (notwithstanding its current use at night)
Emissions have already decreased significantly, but will reduce further, as gas use continues to be curtailed:
Looking ahead, more gas generation to be retired and more wind and solar to be installed:
You see, it matters little, what the generation mix at any point in time might be.
The Liberal South Australian government is moving towards 50% renewable energy by 2030 and zero emissions by 2050. Looks like they are well on track to achieve their very sensible target.
Then they can look at exporting their "free" renewable energy to other states and nations.
