Nowhere in my post did I say this, your words not mine.
My point was clearly the fact they have looked at all aspects of FYI and are now onto commercial terms. You don't do that unless you think you want to be part of a good strategy that they feel will work.

They don't have to be. However, see the last comments for reasons why they have been wanting to get into HPA.

Although HPA has Aluminum in the name the reality is the HPA market is completely different from the markets ALCOA are in, the customers and applications are completely different.
Yes, understand.- I think we all do. However, I am sure that they have some customer relationships that could be leveraged off who may need HPA.

HPA is a specialty market where product is defined and delivered to customer-specific requirements, quite different to smelting Aluminum.
Yes, aware of this thank you - I think we all know this.
FYI's outreach has been conducted over a few years previously. Alcoa would now be privy to these discussions held up until now and would know where these outreach discussions have landed at the moment.

I doubt ALCOA are as desperate as you make out and as many on here believe.....
Where have I said they are desperate?
They decided on wanting to get into HPA ages ago. They even tried to get in alone and couldn't crack it.. Before committing to FYI they looked over the HPA market before deciding FYI is their best path forward.
If it falls over, where do they go next to get into the HPA market? They may find a way however it will take time and they could miss out on first mover advantage.
