I have a similar thought but the franking credits are too valuable. My method of attack is to put in place a synthetic short (google it) which effectively sells your stock (no upside benefit or downside risk), but the franking credit on the dividend will still be obtained.
Or just short sell it via CFD or buy a short minni warrant.
