Midlifecrisis can you please assist me? You see I have this thing about the Moon and, having regard to your mathematical background, would like to hear your opinion this subject, if your would indulge me?

I am interested in what are the chances of the Moon being at just the right distance from Earth, that it does this eclipse thing? A sphere, the same face of which always faces Earth (but let's not get into that odd fact), that when it passes in front of the Sun, covers the face of the Sun just perfectly when viewed by us feeble little mortals standing on Earth looking up.

You see, that is so close to impossible to have happened naturally, that the odds are so strongly stacked in favour of something else going on here. But what?

I would like your opinion on this if you would? No reasoning scientist has yet offered a plausible explanation I have come across. What say you?
