I think it would be VOC detection and as it is about food poisoning it would probably be aimed at Salmonella and Botulism.

I personally think that while this use in fridges might be on its face a little under whelming if it is being done by a Samsung or LG type company it is probably from their point of view more about understanding and developing expertise in using and deploying this new technology before going all in.

There is also the prospect of this type of technology finding its way into commercial refrigeration for detecting contaminated foodstuffs. If it is reliable it could even end up being legislated as a requirement under legislation covering fridge temperatures and maintenance etc;

It could grow into a very large market where every restaurant fridge contains the technology and sends an alert to the local Health inspector that contaminated food is being stored at the particular restaurant.

As for motor vehicles the development time line is years not months which is the advantage of white goods but Peter van der Made recently stated they were working with the European company (likely Valeo) implementing AKIDA technology in a product.

The fact that Valeo is suspected of being involved with Brainchip from as early as 2018 it makes an AKIDA Valeo product release for motor vehicles in 2022 feasible.
