I have stated before my belief that EVs are just an important first step towards autonomous transportation (hence last night's post about Tesla's FSD beta9 release).
Whilst I am a strong proponent of autonomous driving, the following article takes a different view:

I guess there are two key questions:
Firstly, is the timeline to autonomous driving - how long will it actually take? Will it ever become a reality?
Secondly, assuming that it does happen, what will this mean for life as we know it - a peripheral impact or a major inflection point for road transportation and as a consequence the broader [global] economy.
I am interested in people's thoughts!
