Given that our Government and its agencies have declared China as an enemy, then our Government's first duty is to protect all its citizens from that threat. It can't do that by prioritising your lifestyle mate when either the Wall ST/World Bank/IMF Troika may e called in if our mountain of debt grows to where our taxpayers can't manage due to living beyond our means.
Nor will your preserved life style protect us from China aggression . Only an increased GDP/re-Industrialised Aus will earn us the lollies to afford the means to keep you in the style which you have been accustomed to without bunging it on the Credit card, IMO , and at the same time arm ourselves to the teeth in case China equips Indonesia to fight a proxy China/Aus war.
Our combined Governments debt is $1.4 trillion AUD with the real prospect of that increasing to 100% GDP within the next 2 terms of Government.
We have about 14 million taxpayers and if we were to pay down the debt tomorrow it would cost us $100,000 each which would ve your current lifestyle a bit of a jolt....eh? IMO the more taxpayers we have , the lower that debt will be going forward per taxpayer. If we stop immigration then logically the number of taxpayers we'll have, the higher ax per taxpayer we'll have to pay ongoing and the higher debt per taxpayer we'll have to pay.
This is why the OP asks how much income you and others are willing to forgo to stop immigration? The rest of the noise is simply dodging the question, IMO (can't have cake and eat it too eh?)
