July 12 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals were reported by 1015 GMT on Monday:
** Australian retail conglomerate Wesfarmers Ltd (WES) lobbed a A$680 million ($509 million) indicative bid for pharmacy chain Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API) (API) , its first foray into the sector.
** U.S. private equity firm TA Associates has made a 2 billion pounds ($2.78 billion) takeover approach for the medical division of Smiths Group Plc SMIN.L , which makes ventilators for hospitals, the Mail reported.
** Italy's Amplifon AMPF.MI said it had agreed to buy Bay Audio, in a deal worth around 340 million euros ($403.68 million) aimed at strengthening the hearing aid maker's position in the Australian market.
** Buyout group Advent has agreed to sell German coating resins maker Allnex to Thailand's PTT Global Chemical PTTGC.BK for around 4 billion euros ($4.75 billion), the companies said.
** The founding family and top investor in the Daily Mail's owner is considering taking the British newspaper publisher private in a $1.1 billion deal if certain conditions are met, the company said.
** Tate & Lyle TATE.L said it will sell a controlling stake in its commercial sweeteners unit to a private equity firm in a deal valuing the new standalone business at $1.7 billion including debt as it focuses on healthier food and drinks.
