Its absolute stupidity to raise now, unless it is part of an overall plan.
You are right about burning the register. I have held now for 2 years, and have made $0 = frustrating.

Wouldn't be too worried about not getting any at the placement price - the SP will fall pretty close to it I reckon. And, no doubt BBY will get a chunk, which they will sell on the market over the next few months which will no doubt cap the SP until a sale is announced.
