You need to factor in the capital gain tax.
In my case, if I sold part of my holdings (say half) at $1.00 my oldest shares were bought at 22 cents. That's a 78 cent capital gain.
So, at the current company tax rate of .275 on 50% of the cap gain I'd be paying 10.7 cents tax on each share sold.
I would need to flip out and back in again at greater than 11% spread to make it worthwhile.
But, what if I called it wrong?
Plus, in about 18 months time, I would need to find the cash to pay the ATO.
Probably would have to sell more shares to cover it. Another capital gain.
