Brisbane & South East Queensland were awarded the 2032 Olympic Games this evening.
One of the key merits of the bid were the minimal needs for new sporting facilities and stadiums. This is the first time, however, that a wider region has been awarded an Olympic games. The bid proposal has venues scattered throughout South East Queensland and infrastructure improvements will be required to link venues and villages.
With Downer EDI an incumbent supplier for the G-Link extension for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, this bodes well for Downer. As infrastructure plans develop, there is anticipation that Downer could obtain multiple significant transport projects from this successful bid.
