We really dont have freedoms like the USA where they are enshrined in The Bill of Rights.
We only have a vague Constitution which even The High Court struggles with at times!
Geoffrey Robertson QC has been advocating an Aussie Bill of Rights# since the Republican Referendum which would have fitted nicely with a Republic, IMO, but it has fallen of deaf ears because I suspect its against the interests of big business and the Legal Fraternity.Instead we has a load of cobbled together laws that mostly restrict individual rights.
So if you are a Libertarian then I suggest that you cast your vote carefully because all the major Parties are anti-Libertarian based on their past legislations and their respective political philosophies
