the budget is miniscule.. when measured against the scope and depth of research, investigation and reporting that they conduct, Australia wide, across all platforms, it is just plain ignorance to think that $1B per annum is somehow 'excessive'
the BBC operate on a budget of approx 3.7B pounds stirling.. let's convert that to AUS.. approx $6.7B AUS
66 million people in the UK, 242,000km2 land mass .. so that's $100 AUS per person per annum to run the BBC..
24 million people in AUS, 7,692,000km2 land mass ... so that's $41 AUS per person, per annum to run the ABC
well well well, so it costs less than half, per capita to run the ABC in a country 31 times the size
Write a letter to the prime minister and see if they will refund your $41 so you can have a bit more spending money down at the pokies
