RC drilling produces cuttings which contain a range of particle sizes from rock chips to fine dust. As the cuttings are produced they are aggregated into samples of a pre-determined length, in this case metre samples. The samples are split and a portion containing a representative amount of each particle size is bagged for assay. Another portion is sieved on site and the rock chips retained for visual inspection. The rock chips can give an indication of geology, mineralisation and grade.
