Police horses are a vital tool in crowd control. If a crowd needs to be dispersed quickly it is a lot easier to do it on horse back. Police forces all around Australia have a police horse presence when there is a large crowd. If it was to get violent the horses are very effective at moving people on. I have seen police horses at most large sporting events and gatherings, it’s certainly not unusual.
