the main driver for this to happen is the majors wanting out, for example, BHP have stated they want to go down the path of the main staple, iron and also push ther nickel which is a major part of batteries so they, imo, imply that oil is a ball and chain to them.
to us, its a company maker, it also gets the majors our of future liabilities, we'll no doubt kick that can down the road.

whats funny to me is that the hysteria around oil and electric cars, i'll ask the question, who owns one and who knows of someone who owns one.

i dont, my next car, and soon will be a 4 door Jeep. electric is BS, will go hydrogen for my wheelchair when im 90.
but electric, really? good luck with that when youre running late on that school run and youre redlining.

the co2 emmissions producing electric cars from digging the materials to its end of life is about half of a decent running carbon car.
sure, things will get better but if one thinks that oil will just be switched of soon, their kidding themselves, it will be a decades long process and meanwhile we still need it, for a long time.

if aust dont find any more oil or cant get any into the country........we have a 10 year supply..........4 billion barrells....... all aust has now....an we use 400m barrellss a year..............so even you will see tesla on our roads........if look hard enought
