China’s Stocks Decline for Second Day; Jiangxi Copper Slides
Aug. 6 (Bloomberg) -- China’s stocks fell, with the Shanghai Composite Index posting its first back-to-back losses in three weeks, as investors speculated the central bank may rein in lending and commodity prices declined.
Citic Securities Co. and Baoshan Iron & Steel Co. retreated more than 3 percent after the People’s Bank of China said it will fine-tune monetary policy where necessary and guide “appropriate” lending growth. Jiangxi Copper Co., the nation’s biggest producer of the metal, slumped 5 percent and PetroChina Co., the world’s most valuable company, slipped 2 percent as copper and crude oil prices dropped.
