I'm not sure why you think I have two different views? If you read back a few posts, I state that no one knows how it's going to pan out. Shares are more liquid that realestate, and smaller investors can easily enter the stock market, so it stands to reason that when investment money starts to flow out it will be the equities first. Generally stocks can easily fall 20%, but housing moves a bit slower or stagnats. If you owe money on your house, it would be better to put all of your cash into that rather than the stock market, but I need to buy shares to spread my risk. In my humble opinion all asset classes are likely to fall, so {in my case} it is a good idea to have some cash on hand to average down on stocks already held and maybe a few new ones.
