I suspect fear of hypnosis is fear of losing control. Maybe play with that idea for a while. See what comes up for you. Think about whether that is related at all to the agoraphobia

I’m also interested in your description that the anxiety is worse if you focus on your breathing. I suspect there is fear there as well and maybe even that by avoiding calm you give yourself a reason to face change.

have you ever had a situation from before this started where you ended up gasping for breathe.

one of the exercises I did when I was going through the treatment for ptsd was to recognise when I am in victim mode and replay that with a twist. I still end up there from time to time but I recognise it and make a conscious decision about whether I will stay there. I do that by asking myself if it services me at that point.

we are never ever hostage to these things - rather they are hostage to us and our subconscious. What has happened is that you have worn a very strong neural pathway that keeps reinforcing what happens and so you have to change that. You change it by changing anyone of the tiny typical things that are accompanying the stimulus/trigger and your reaction. Any disruption at all.

btw a very well known disruptive is crawling. You just crawl for a period each day (maybe in private so no one can see you and think you really have gone off your rocker). Try crawling outside as well. Then you sit Then walk.

the other thing is to accept the panic. In buddhist terms - stop the attachment to it.

every phobia you have is most likely a decision your subconscious has made.

but have you had your heart checked. Or thyroid or diabetes or adrenal function.
