The outcome of the meeting (today/tomorrow?) and the announcement (Monday?), the reasons and the way forward remain to be seen.
Irrespective of this, facts and circumstances have been created which I do not want to leave uncommented and which, at least from my point of view and in this particular KNP case, I will not let pass as normal African practice and leave as a banality in the room.
Nevertheless, the government has done itself a disservice.This development is, in my opinion, deliberate and, it must be assumed, absolutely incompatible with the Mining Act, which is, I hope, the last thing this minister has done for himself.
The fact that, in addition to the well-known "affairs", there are still some conflicts of interest, right up to the top of TONSE, which have apparently made this constellation possible and are thus maintained, does not seem to bother anyone so far, as long as they profit from it.
I may be wrong and I hope I am not wronging the minister, but what else would this current scenario suggest?
Or is there backing for this from the very top? And if that is the case, the question arises immediately and independently of this: Why and what is the point of it all?
This is actually an untenable situation in Malawi, which I think urgently needs to be changed.The article is from last year and the comments are not only interesting but also convey relevant information.
The fact that the Nyasa Times is IMO (very) close to the DPP should only be mentioned here in passing.
