I'm not a chemist but wondering if the freakish heavy rain events I seem to recall recently going right over the centre of Australia from the Timor Sea, might have diluted the feedstock in the ponds? This is almost total desert around here and average rainfall in very low. A problem with any open air evaporation operation is sudden heavy rain. Really though I find the chemical problems a bit baffling seeing as I am not in that field of work.
