For many years i lived close to the sea but half a kilometer from the actual beach. We still copped a lot of salty mist when the wind came off the ocean and suffered a lot of corrosion.
Also in some places in some countries salt is used to counter ice of roads. i know one place that is 200miles inland where that can occur.
