It’s a great news for lithium stocks as Biden just announced an aggressive EV plan overnight.
Current EV penetration rate in US is probably 3%, Biden set 50% by 2030.
Europe and China are currently exceeding 10%.
pre Covid annual new car sales, is above 80 million. (Last year global new car sales 76m units)
China: 27m
Europe: 21m
America: 17m
It’s very pleased to see all governments of these countries are pushing hard to go with electric cars.
this will drive lithium demand 5 times in 9 years, imo.
Global lithium demand in 2020 was about 400,000 tons LCE, of that, 180,000 t LCE from EVs.
For achieving 50% EV by 2030, that would require 2,000,000 t LCE alone for EVs annually from 2030.

Back to GLN, it’s not a retail stock anymore, broker data show institutions dominated the trading volume.
Tuesday’s big volume pushed to $1.19, JP Morgan bought 830k, UBS had been doing bots for a long time.
