Company usually do share consolidation to attract institutional investors ie they might have prerequisite that we can invest in a company where share value is minimum $10.
So some big institutions will approach a company that we r interested in investing in your company but your current value of share is $1 so company might decide to consolidate share into 10:1 ratio, and making share price = $10, nothing really change, number of shares you have will reduce to 10:1 ratio, while increasing share price in that proportionate.
