By definition of an automated vehicle
it’s called public transport.
on demand public transport are taxis or uber
without the need for driver is the only difference
but also means less car demanded, which is contradictory to private manufacturers
you see there is a conflict of interest.
and not everyone want to ride public, this is the reason we have our own private vehicles. To scale is to say I prefer a Mercedes and are willing to pay the premium for a public taxi made by Mercedes.
cost isn’t the only driver for these decisions.
