In NZ renewables include old well run Hydro and Geo thermal . They have one Coal fired station and the Government makes them burn Coal imported from Indonesia instead of Coal from a mine 50km down the road . Not sure why but this must make the Coal more expensive so it only runs the station when hydro river flows are down like they are now . Maybe they should buy quality coal from NHC or even the South Island has good quality coal .
