If 4DS signs a license agreement with a competitor - that agreement ships part and parcel with the company upon sale.
Whoever buys 4DS will license the crap out of it - to maximise returns out of tech you need to make it ubiquitous. FLASH is licensed and produced by competitors, so is DRAM.
