I was in Cairns recently and came across a fair bit of info from the Queensland government regarding climate change affecting the far north. Here is just one

Pretty sure it mentions a 1 degree (average) rise in the last century. 1 degree would not be noticeable but they say something like 2-3 degrees are we are fully in the shit. As far as the Cairns esplanade goes, isn’t that all relatively new, wouldn’t it have just been mangroves and mudflats when you were a kid.
There are lots of very detailed reports and mapping regarding climate change and sea level rises related to the cairns area. Looks like the council up there are taking it seriously.
