If you have cash in the smsf ( a rollover from another fund for example), you can have the smsf purchase some or all of your RAC shares from you rather than moving the shares to the smsf as a contribution.
You’ve got 3 ways to move personal shares to your smsf :
- concessional contribution : a maximum of about $75k, but probably much less than that. It depends on your concessional contributions (mostly employer contributions) for this year and the past 2 years.
- non-concessional contribution : up to $330k using the bring forward rule
- sale of shares to smsf : pretty much limited only by how much cash you have in the smsf.
