I've thought about that too and I don't know the answer. Can MP process monazite? Even if they can, are they likely to? Do they want to? Do they need to? etc.
Don't forget (though admittedly, it's barely mentioned) the US player who is moving very rapidly into RE refinining is Energy Fuels who will be working with monazite and have a lot of plans for the next few years - https://www.energyfuels.com/presentation
They are very involved in the production of uranium and vanadium and have said the move into RE for them is very achievable. They say "White Mesa Mill is the only facility in U.S. licensed & capable of receiving, handling & processing monazite for recovery of REE’s" and they are currently in the beginning stages of some processing.
