If the "ex" date is today, Tuesday 17th August, doesn't that mean the last day to buy is by COB last Friday 13th August? Because of T+2 settlement you will own the shares on Tuesday if you bought last Friday, but if you bought yesterday on Monday you don't own the shares until Wednesday, one day too late.
