Goldduck, at one time they were touting a "new technology" that would be utilized underground to seperate the barren rock from paydirt. Something akin to what Ashton did in its diamond mine in WA (from memory). So this point is a serious issue.
The fact that the mine has not been able to increase production for such a long time and after much development may indicate more bearish news. The old miners took out a lot of high grade gold working with picks and shovels without any ventilation and with crude pumping equipment. I remember pictures of open vein systems "waiting for production to resume" and over the years of previous vein systems that were developed that did not result in much production. At this late stage I think it prudent to look elsewhere. Even the folks at Hill End have made a decent effort with little cash to re-open an old mine, to quote one example.
