Illiquid, I don't quite know how it all works, and I would imagine that there could be many ways that a deal could be struck.
I a Strategic Partner was simply given $3 Billion worth of SDL shares, then I feel my stake in the company would be heavily impacted.
What could in fact happen though, is if the strategic partner is a Steel Mill, the terms would probably include X amount of Iron Ore.
If the strategic partner is a bank however, they would probably have very little interest in the Iron Ore itself, and the terms would revolve more around a stake in future profits.
It all depends on who the strategic partner is, and whether or not SDL had the upper hand in negotiations.
