Advantages of Australian iron ore supply to China as compared to other countries. These factors will have to be addressed by China and won't happen this year, next year or the next few years.

    1. Distance
Australia is much closer in 'practical' distance to China than Brazil and Africa. This adds more costs to supply iron ore from these countries and if the iron ore price go below $100, it will practically stunt their export significantly. India is the closest supplier to China but it will have complications in the future (see point 4 below)

    2. Established shipment route and facility
Australia enjoys well established ports and shipment routes by sea built upon decades of mining history and we are still building and upgrading more ports. China wants West Africa to start establishing their mines, won't be done soon and there are great risks associated in points below including long distance by sea and China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) wont cover West Africa.
China wants to get Afghan's resources? The reason why no one has tapped this (including US for 20years) is because there are no infrastructures available and it's a politically unstable country. Without US they will still have wars among themselves and it is still a base of muslim extremism. It will take years for these mines to operate including explorations and infrastructures built to accomodate it. At the moment Oil is easier and much cheaper to extract and transport hence why the US is primarily interested in Oil in the Middle East.
Afghanistan is land locked, transport all the way to northern China where majority of the industry is will be costly! China would need to invest billions of dollars before they could tap their resources. I don't see this happening anytime soon as China is already neck deep in debt.

    3. Australia is a stable and safe country
One of the greatest edge we have is that our country is very stable. Sure we may love to complain and talk rubbish about our government but Australia is one of the safest country on earth. All these countries are still politically unstable and rampant with corruption. They can't handle Covid (Aus mines were making more money because of this). We have a good system of law that 'minimises' corruption and encourages fair economy system and easy exports and imports.
South Africa is in tatters with riots, basically Africa as a whole is unsafe with wars that media doesn't widely cover. Africa, Brazil and India are still struggling with Covid. Afghanistan will have more conflicts as now they are ruled again by Taliban who are more concerned in upholding religious extremism than bettering their country.
Basically the BRI won't be effective as the areas surrounding the route to Middle East in unstable with risk of conflicts.
We are lucky our country is an island down under which makes managing international threats, affairs and immigration easier.

    4. The cream on top: CCP is the most hated gov in the world

I say CCP (chinese communist party) not China because the chinese people are robbed out of their beautiful culture by this evil gov. CCP basically destroyed these thousands of years of civilisation history in the 'Great Leap Forward' movement. Love chinese people but not their gov.
CCP will eventually screw up relationships with their 'partner' countries.
India will soon be next as CCP will build a dam in Tibet that will restrict water supply to India. Plus the territorial tensions already happening at the moment. This will affect their ore shipment and CCP will play Lone Wolf act on them too.
Africa is already screwed by CCP in other investments but if they go ahead with these iron ore mines, they will be even more screwed big time.
Brazil and China relation is going sour because of Covid and CCP is already attacking Brazil because of it.

So this talk about China trying to diversify its ore supply may not work in their favour as CCP keeps shooting themselves in the foot by being aggresive and arrogant to all the countries they deal with.

    Or

China can build a great business relationship with Australia and keep getting iron ore supply from Australia and skip all these headaches. In the end I think this will be economically better and efficient for China and Australia. Plus:

    5. Australia has one of the best iron ore quality on earth.
Our iron ore is exceptional and cost effective. When China is getting iron ore from other countries, they are getting an inferior product which requires more refining and produce more waste and costly.
