Market sentiment is such an important shit in stock investing/trading. I was just comparing the financial metrics between VUL (lithium) and HIO(iron ore). Both projects have similar timelines and are at similar stage currently(VUL slightly ahead in terms of project financing. HIO post tax NPV with conservative IO price of $100 is $5.5 billion, post tax IRR is 33% and payback period just under 3 years. while VUL NPV is $3.6 bil, post tax IRR 21% and payback period is 5 years. Looking from profitability perspective HIO is way better. But look at the MC, HIO $67 mil, VUL $1.5 bil, that is 22 times higher. At the end of the day, it comes down to how much money the company can make for the shareholders that should determine the share price. But the sentiment makes such a gigantic difference. It can crush you to death even if you are so confident on your investment.
