What I'm particularly happy about is that this development appears to have nullified one of the most concerning potential risk scenarios - namely that the chip doesn't work as well as expected.
Fred's recent messaging (which gave him plenty of wriggle room for nebulous delays) contained the words “Subject to the performance specifications being met, in-person demonstrations will be conducted...”
It appears that the potentially most damaging concern of all - that the chip doesn't perform satisfactorily - has been addressed.
You can imagine that the management & development team, having worked on this for 15-odd years, wouldn't want to release something that merely worked, but would have every incentive to wait until they had something that could really blow the industry's socks off. It appears we are finally there.
Having been part of this story for over 10 years, I'm hoping good news awaits..
