For whatever reason, they chose to put some distance between the results announcement in August, and the Investor Strategy Day in October. They scheduled it this way back in May from memory. So my guess is they more clearly set realistic expectations about the short term and get the reporting out of the way before they introduce the new directions along the lines you mentioned. Not sure which is the better approach but that seems to be how they are playing it.
