re: Ann: OZ Minerals 2009 Half Year Report (i... True raw, BHP have said they are interested in Tier 1 only, but PH qualifies on that basis very soon with pending resource upgrades. As HT points out, it qualifies on every other score already and in practical terms, would be widely considered Tier 1 by most predators already. Also, BHP is certainly downramping PH for obvious reasons -a bit too much the nonchalant 'disinterestted' potential buyer to me, but watch them respond at auction if someone else expresses interest!
Who woud that someone be? A long list including mid tier Australian companies, some of whom who could issue script, or one of the Euro, UK, SA or US types (Xtrata, RIO, Anglo, etc) or even, at current cash flows and outlook, a private equity company.
I wouldn't get too concerned about the Swann decision re Woomera or the percieved 'friction' in Sino-Aus relations. If a predator thinks it would be an attractive propositon, they will make the bid and then deal with the politics.
