I don't think it's just the HBO deal. More likely it's investment houses recommending this as a up to 20c now or $2 post consolidation buy.
FYI there is circa NZD2 billion that is floating around from offshore people looking to invest in New Zealand through the Investor 1 category to gain a resident visa. The majority of this is held with investment houses in NZ. These are astute investors supported by brokers, SKT would present itself as a very attractive buy (in my opinion) to these people and other investors in nz.
