quick profit on FMG dividend?, page-20

I noticed you bought a 10,00 share parcel of FMG back in mid 2015. I dont know how you have fared by jumping in and out of the stock trying to time the market since then. I noticed you have been trying to dividend strip it (drop in SP after going ex dividend makes the whole exercise worthless) and also trying to play with derivatives to make a return.

Don't take it as a put down but if you just held those same shares from back in 2015 you would of banked $74,000 in dividends you would of accrued along the way if you include this end of months dividend.

So say the FMG share price after going ex dividend and before the next dividend in 2022 gets back to $21 your FMG 10,000 parcel of shares that you bought for $2.12 for $21,200 would then be worth $210,000 plus $74,000 in dividends = $284,000.

If you were smart and disciplined and reinvested your dividends and factored in your franking credits along the way that original FMG investment would be in excess of $500K .

I used to be like you trying to time the market and locked in gains when I was 20% or 30% ahead and thinking I was doing well when a decades down the track I looked back and saw many of those stocks I bought during their IPO's or early in the piece went onto more than 10 bag. I changed my investment style and followed Buffet and what Andrew Forrest has done during the last six years and have never done done better. I wished I invested for the long term from the start as I would of retired a decade earlier than I did.

Not telling you how to invest but look back and compare where you now and where you would of been if you just held all the stocks you bought from 2015 and reinvested the dividends.
