Re when the tax is due.

I have received tax information from Etrade for my 2008/09 trades income and CGT components. It is called Tax Tools and it is free, at least the standart version.

I was quite suprised that they included the AJA distribution that did not get paid until last Friday 28/08/09 in the income for the 2008/09 Financial Year.

Eventualy I found in the accounts a note explaining it, and it basicaly said the tax is due in 08/09 because the distribution was announced in 08/09.

BTW ,Tax Office knows who the unit holders are, and what they got or were entitled to, that why we have to quote our TFN.

They may not impose any penalty for not including the distribution in 08/09 return if the accountants advise was to the contrary, but who knows?

I am including it it the 08/09 return, I am running my own SMSF and do not want any trouble with Tax Office. After all they are holding my franking credits from my other investments and I want those back.
