helium, page-14

For all, especially for out resident geologists, an old paper by our own Greg Amobrose. A lot of useful info on Magee-1 and Amadeus basin geology.

    some extracts:

    "At Magee-1, basement is
shallower and better imaged seismically. The well intersected a thin (4.5 m) Heavitree Quartzite sandstone which flowed helium and nitrogen rich gas at a stabilised rate of 63.1 Mscfd (1784 m3/d)."

"The extremely high helium content of the Magee-1 gas (6.2%
by volume), if representative of likely yields, far exceeds
the commercial extraction threshold of ≥1% and therefore,
provides a unique commercial opportunity for explorers. A
staged, fully integrated exploration program is required to
ensure that this potential is realized and can be monetized in a cost-effective manner."
